App shortcuts and Save to Memlow on Android

In the Android appUpdated

The Android app has three quick ways in besides its icon. Touch and hold Memlow's icon for shortcuts to a new note, a checklist, a voice note or search. Add the New note tile to Quick Settings. And from almost any other app, use Share, then Save to Memlow, to keep text or photos in a new note or one you already have. None of this is on the web app.

Shortcuts on Memlow's icon

  1. Touch and hold the Memlow icon on your home screen or in the app drawer.
  2. Tap one of the four shortcuts:
ShortcutWhat it opens
New noteA new, empty note
New checklistA new note that starts as a checklist
New voice noteA new note, ready to record
Search notesSearch, to find a note

On most phones you can also drag a shortcut out of that menu onto your home screen, so it gets its own icon. A New checklist button on your home screen is handy for a quick shopping list. To keep one particular note in view instead, use the Note widget.

If app lock is on, a shortcut asks for your PIN or fingerprint first, the same as opening Memlow. See Lock the whole app with your fingerprint.

A New note tile in Quick Settings

Quick Settings is the panel of tiles you pull down from the top of the screen.

  1. Pull down from the top of the screen, twice if you need to, to see all the tiles.
  2. Tap the pencil or Edit button. Its name and place depend on your phone's maker.
  3. Find Memlow's New note tile and drag it in among your tiles.

Tap the tile from any app to start a note.

Save text or photos from other apps

Save to Memlow puts what you share from another app into Memlow: a recipe from a website, an address from a message, a photo of a bill or a whiteboard.

  1. In the other app, choose Share.
  2. In the list of apps, choose Save to Memlow.
  3. A sheet shows what's arriving: the words, or how many photos.
  4. Choose where it goes:
    • New note makes a new note. Tap the folder row to put it in a folder, or leave it as No folder.
    • Add to a note adds it to the end of a note you have. Tap Add to which note?, search for the note and pick it.
  5. Tap Save.

Memlow says "Saved to Memlow", or "Added to" and the note's title. You're back in the app you shared from.

You can share text and photos, one photo or several at once. A note holds up to 50 photos; if you send more, Memlow says so. Other kinds of file, such as PDFs, can't be saved this way.

If Memlow isn't in the share list, look under "More" at the end of it, or check that Memlow is installed and up to date.

Note

On the web, you can drop text files, Markdown files and photos onto app.memlow.com instead. See Bring in notes from text or Markdown files.

Widgets

For a note or today's tasks on your home screen, see Home-screen widgets on Android. The Quick note widget also starts a note, a checklist, a photo note or a voice note in one tap.
