About Memlow

Memlow is a free, private notes app for your browser and your Android phone. Your notes stay on your device, there's no AI, and a Memlow account is optional.

What Memlow is

Memlow is for the notes that run your days: shopping lists, lecture notes, meeting notes, budgets, plans, and the reminders that go with them. It works in your browser at app.memlow.com and as an app for Android phones. Both are the same Memlow with the same note format, so a backup made on one opens on the other.

We made it for people who want a calm, quick place to write. We had students in mind, people who run a shop or a household, office workers, and anyone who writes in more than one language.

Why we make it

Many notes apps have added AI features, paid plans, or both. Memlow has neither, and it keeps to a few rules:

  • Your notes stay on your device. We don't run a server that stores them.
  • There's no AI. Search, date detection and reminders follow plain rules that we wrote.
  • Everything is free, for everyone.
  • It works offline. Only backups, sharing, accounts and ads need the internet.
  • Every language matters as much as English, right-to-left ones included.
  • A note should never get lost. Memlow saves as you type, keeps deleted notes in Trash for 30 days, and checks a new backup before it removes an older one.

How it's paid for

Memlow is free. There's no paid plan, no subscription and nothing to buy inside the apps, and every feature is the same for everyone.

The Android app shows a few ads from Google AdMob, and those ads pay for running Memlow. You'll see a banner at the bottom of some list screens and, now and then, a full-screen ad after you close a note, never more than three a day. Ads don't appear while you write, search or type, and they never see your notes. Memlow on the web has no ads at all.

Memlow is made by the Memlow team, and we write both apps ourselves. Apart from Google's ads code in the Android app, neither app contains third-party tracking or crash reporting.

What it does

In both apps:

  • notes with headings, lists, checklists, tables, photos, voice notes and links between notes
  • sheets with formulas and charts, inside a note or full screen
  • reminders on notes and checklist items, with a Tasks list
  • goals with number targets, habits and milestones
  • templates, themes, note papers and 30 fonts
  • folders, tags, pins, an archive, and search that works in any script
  • locked notes
  • encrypted backups to your own Google Drive, which also keep your devices in step
  • shared notebooks, notes shared with a link, and teams
  • export to PDF, Markdown and plain text

The Android app adds home-screen widgets, a Quick Settings tile, Share to Memlow from other apps, locked folders, fingerprint unlock, and reminders that ring even when Memlow is closed. On the web you don't have to install anything, though you can install Memlow like an app, and it keeps working offline once it has loaded. There's no app for iPhone or iPad.

Your privacy, in plain words

  • Your notes live on your device: in the app on your phone, or in your browser's storage on the web. We never receive them.
  • A Memlow account is optional. It keeps your sign-in details, your profile and where your backups are, never your notes.
  • Backups go to your own Google Drive, encrypted on your device with your backup password before they leave it. Google can't read them and neither can we, which also means we can't recover a lost backup password.
  • Shared notebooks and notes shared with a link are encrypted end to end. Our servers store them, but only the people you share with can read them.
  • On your profile, only what you set to Public is public.

The privacy policy has the details, and the cookies page lists every cookie.

Languages

The Android app speaks 35 languages and Memlow on the web speaks 15. Right-to-left languages work in full: the whole layout turns around for Arabic and Urdu in both apps, and for Persian and Hebrew on Android. Urdu is written in Nastaliq, and one note can mix languages and directions.

Where it came from

Memlow started in 2026 under the name InkNest. It became Memlow in October 2026, the month the Android app arrived on Google Play. The new name joins two words, memory and mellow.
