Start your online journal
Go to app.memlow.com, choose New note and start writing. Each word is saved in your browser's own storage as you type, so you can close the tab mid-sentence. Make a folder called Journal, or a tag such as #journal, and every entry is one tap away.
It's free, and the web app has no ads. You don't need an account to write; a free Memlow account comes in when you want Google Drive backup on the web or want to share something.
Lock it with a PIN
Choose a PIN of 4 to 8 digits, then lock an entry from its menu. A locked entry shows only its title in your list and in search until the PIN is entered. Turn on Lock Memlow in Settings and the whole journal asks for the PIN when it opens.
A lock keeps out people who use the same computer. It doesn't encrypt the entry: the entry is kept like your other notes, protected by your device. What Memlow encrypts is your backups and anything you share. Private notes explains the difference.
Daily prompts and templates
A blank page is the hardest part. Four journal templates give you a start:
- Daily journal: mood, how you feel, what happened, three things you're grateful for and tomorrow's plan.
- Gratitude: three good things, someone you're thankful for and a small win.
- Weekly reflection: your best moment, what you learned, what drained you.
- Dream journal: the dream, how it felt, and what you noticed.
Add a mood element with five faces, a date, a rating, or a countdown to something you're looking forward to. They're on the note elements page. Each entry can have its own theme, paper and font.
Write on your phone too
The Android app keeps the same journal on your phone. Link the same Google Drive in both, and entries written on one reach the other by themselves, usually within seconds. On Android you can lock the app with your fingerprint, and voice typing lets you speak an entry, using the phone's own speech recognition.
Where your journal is stored
An online journal usually means one kept on a company's server. Memlow works the other way. On the web, entries live in your browser's storage on that computer; on Android, on your phone. Memlow's servers never receive them.
That also means clearing the browser's data deletes entries that aren't backed up. Link Google Drive for encrypted backups in your own Drive, or save a backup file now and then. On the web, Version history keeps earlier versions of an entry in your browser, every 10 minutes while you write.
