Where Google Sheets is better

  • It handles big sheets: millions of cells, where a Memlow tab is 100 rows by 26 columns.
  • Many people can edit at once, and version history keeps named versions and each cell's edit history (source 10 above).
  • It opens and saves Excel files, and Apps Script and macros automate the rest.
  • It has hundreds of functions and works on iPhone and iPad as well as Android and the web.

For a company's reports, a class of 200 or anything built on Excel files, Google Sheets is the right tool.

Where Memlow Sheets is different

  • It works offline in the browser too, with no extension, and on Android with no connection at all.
  • Sheets stay on your device. Backups go to your own Google Drive, encrypted with a password only you know, and shared sheets are end to end encrypted.
  • There's no AI. Smart fill spots simple patterns with fixed rules, and that's all.
  • Sheets live beside your notes. A small sheet can sit inside a note, and a table can become a sheet.
  • Smart cells come ready: tick boxes, coloured dropdowns, dates, star ratings and progress bars, plus 15 chart types and 12 templates.

The Memlow Sheets page covers the rest, and the sheet templates are ready to open.

Who should stay with Google Sheets

Stay with Google Sheets if your sheets are large, shared with many people, built on Excel files or scripts, or need an iPhone app. Memlow Sheets suits a household budget, a timetable, a shop's stock list or a grade tracker that you'd rather keep on your own phone.

Bring your sheets across with CSV

  1. Open the sheet in Google Sheets and select the cells you need, headings included.
  2. Copy them, open a new sheet in Memlow, click the first cell and paste. The values arrive in their cells.
  3. Or, if you have the sheet as a CSV or TSV file, import it into Memlow as a new tab or over one, up to 20 MB.

Formulas don't come across as formulas; add Memlow's versions where you need them. Import a CSV or TSV file into a sheet has the steps.
