Open it and write
A notepad should be quicker than the thought you're trying to catch. Memlow opens straight away, with nothing to download or install. Go to app.memlow.com, choose New note and type. Each change is saved in your browser's own storage straight away, so you can close the tab mid-sentence and find every word when you come back.
It's free, with no ads on the web and no paid plan waiting behind a button. Your notes stay on the computer or phone you're using, and we never receive them. No AI reads them either.
A plain page, until you need more
For a quick thought, it's just a title, a page and a cursor. When a note grows, type / on an empty line for headings, checklists, tables, quotes, tip boxes, code and dividers. Markdown shortcuts work as you type, too: # for a heading, - for a list, [ ] for a checklist.
- Tables can total a column for you: sum, average, count, min or max.
- Type [[ to link to another note. If you rename that note, the link follows.
- Drop a photo, or a text or Markdown file, onto the window and it becomes a note.
- Find and replace, and a word count with reading time, are in the note's menu.
Made for a keyboard and a big screen
On a wide screen, your list of notes and the open note sit side by side. Press N for a new note, / to search, and Ctrl + K (⌘ + K on a Mac) to jump to any note, folder or action. Focus mode hides everything but the page, and dark mode is a click away in Settings.
Changed your mind about an edit? Version history keeps earlier versions of each note in your browser, including one every 10 minutes while you write, so you can read an older version, restore it or copy it out.
Find it again
Notes you write in a hurry still need finding later. Search looks through every word of every note, in any language, and ignores accents. Pin the notes you use most, sort the rest into coloured folders, or tag them by typing # and a word anywhere in the text. Finished with something? Archive it to keep it out of the way, or move it to Trash, where it waits 30 days before it's gone for good.
Keep your notes safe
An online notepad that lives in your browser has one weak spot: clearing the browser's data, or moving to another computer, leaves the notes behind. Memlow gives you two free ways round that.
- Link Google Drive. On the web, sign in to your free Memlow account first. Memlow backs up to a hidden folder in your own Drive, encrypted with a backup password only you know.
- Save a backup file now and then, protected with a password, and keep it somewhere safe.
Both work with the Android app too, so the same notes can open on your phone. If you often write away from wifi, see how Memlow works as an offline notes app.
