Questions

How does the total work?

The Amount column has a totals row set to sum, so the total updates as soon as anyone adds or changes a cost.

Can everyone add their own costs?

Yes. Share the folder as a notebook and each person adds rows from their own phone or computer. Shared notebooks are encrypted end to end, and sharing needs a free Memlow account with Google Drive backup on.

Does it work out who owes whom?

Not in the note: it lists costs and the total. The split bills sheet works out each person's fair share and balance.
